Player Code of Conduct

As a Railway player, I agree to:

  • Play for enjoyment and become part of the rugby family.
  • Respect the “Game of Rugby” and play within the Laws of the Game.
  • Accept the referee’s decision and let my captain or coach ask any relevant questions.
  • Play with control and do not lose my temper.
  • Always do my best and be committed to the game, my team and to Railway.
  • Be a “good sport” and applaud all good play whether by Railway or the opposition.
  • Respect my opponent, treat all players as I would like to be treated, and do not “bully” or take advantage of any player.
  • Recognise that rugby is a team sport and make sure I co-operate with my coach, my team mates and members of Railway.
  • Remember that the goals of the game are to have fun, improve your skills and feel good.
  • Thank my opponents and the referee at the end of the match.
  • Always remember that I owe a duty of care to my opponents, that I will tackle hard but fairly, not intending to hurt my opponent.
  • Recognise that winning and losing is part of sport and that I will win with humility and lose with dignity.
  • Attend training regularly and listen to my coach and help my team.
  • Understand that all members are important to the team.
  • Remember that I am representing my team, Railway, my family and the Game of Rugby.
