Corcoran: Let Them Eat Cake

Railway President Shirley Corcoran has weighed in with her support for those running for the Umbrella Foundation in the second annual Sandymount Night Run on Tuesday 3rd March by announcing she will be hosting a post-run recovery meal in the club.

"With the assistance of our Executive Chefs Malcolm Walsh and Noel Downey, I'm be delighted to say we'll be feeding those running for this wonderful charity," said Corcoran.

In addition, the Great Railway Bake-off will also take place in the club after the run.

"The Great Railway Bake-off is one of the most popular events in the Railway social calendar," said Corcoran.  "Our esteemed panel of judges - Messrs. O'Brien, Martin, Robb, Collins and Plunkett - are renowned confectionary experts and have the most extensive experience of all manner of cakes, pastries, desserts and puddings.  They also form Railway's 'Tuesday Walking Club' and will be working up their appetites by walking the course before making their judgements."

"Our Bar Manager, Brendan Boland, has promised some complimentary pots of tea to wash down the cake on condition any cake eater makes a small honesty donation to the Umbrella Foundation," confirmed Corcoran. panel

The run is proving very popular, with an eclectic mix of people having signed up.  This includes members from all Railway rugby teams, members from other sports in Railway, Legends members, parents of our U18s and U15s, and friends of the club.

The run has an option of two distances of 5k and 10k.  The entrance fee for the 5k run is €20 and the 10k is €25, with €10 from each entrance fee going directly to the Umbrella Foundation.  Entry is open to all members and friends of Railway and it caters for the competitive athletes to joggers and walkers.  In addition, all those who complete the event will receive a finisher's medal.
